Pakistan Reserves Right to Respond to Indian Aggression at Time and Place of Its Choosing: ISPR

aj Gen Ahmed Sharif says Pakistan acted in self-defence after India’s unprovoked attack, asserts nation’s right to defend its sovereignty and protect civilians

ISLAMABAD: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Ahmed Sharif,  warned that Pakistan will deliver a decisive response to any future Indian aggression, stating that the country reserves the right to determine the time and place of its choosing.

Briefing the media on the prevailing security situation following heightened tensions with India, the military spokesperson said Pakistan’s response was measured, timely, and in self-defence. “It is important to clarify that Pakistan did not initiate this conflict. India carried out a cowardly and unprovoked attack, targeting innocent civilians including women, children, and the elderly. Pakistan responded purely in defence of its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said.

Maj Gen Sharif stated that Indian actions constituted a blatant violation of Pakistan’s regional sovereignty, adding that the international community must take note of India’s reckless behaviour. “Pakistan holds every right under international law to defend its territory and people. The response to Indian aggression will be firm and proportionate, with the timing and location to be determined by Pakistan,” he added.

He revealed that in response to India’s hostile actions, the Pakistan Air Force successfully shot down five Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale aircraft. “None of the Indian aircraft were allowed to breach our airspace. Similarly, no Pakistani aircraft crossed the border,” he said, dispelling misinformation circulating in regional media.

Referring to developments along the Line of Control (LoC), the DG ISPR said that Pakistani forces delivered a robust response to Indian shelling, destroying multiple military installations including a brigade headquarters. “The enemy was given a clear message—Pakistan is fully prepared to defend itself against any misadventure,” he noted.

Major General Sharif concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s desire for peace in the region but cautioned that peace should never be mistaken for weakness. “We seek stability and peace, but any act of aggression will be met with full force. Pakistan will not compromise on its sovereignty or the safety of its citizens,” he said.
