Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Chaudhry Latif Akbar, has strongly condemned the recent attack on unarmed tourists in Pahalgam, calling it a blatant violation of human rights, ethical principles, and international law. In a powerful statement, he demanded a neutral, international investigation into the incident and raised suspicions about the possible involvement of Indian intelligence agencies.
Akbar criticized the targeting of civilians, saying, “Violence, bloodshed, and the killing of innocent people cannot be justified in any civilized society.” He expressed concern that the attack may have been orchestrated by Indian agencies to mislead the global community and frame Kashmiris or Pakistanis, as part of a larger political narrative.
He further highlighted the suspicious timing of the attack — coinciding with the visit of U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance to India and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Saudi Arabia. “This incident reminds us of the 2000 Chattisinghpora massacre during U.S. President Bill Clinton’s visit to India, when Sikhs were killed to malign Pakistan internationally,” he added.
Akbar asserted that the Pahalgam attack is a result of the Modi regime’s own dark tactics and urged the international community to take serious notice of India’s conspiracies and persistent human rights violations in Kashmir.
He appealed for global efforts to hold India accountable and to help the people of Jammu and Kashmir achieve their birthright to self-determination, as enshrined in UN resolutions.
“Enough is enough. The world must no longer stay silent. It is time to expose India’s false flag operations and stand with the oppressed people of Kashmir,” the Speaker concluded.
