U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz has raised alarms over renewed threats from global terrorist organizations. In a recent television interview, Waltz stated that groups such as ISIS, al-Qaeda, and al-Shabab are actively devising strategies to launch attacks on American soil.
Waltz emphasized that intelligence reports point to serious planning activity among these extremist groups. “They have concrete plans,” he warned, suggesting that the threat is no longer theoretical.
He also shared that under the Trump administration, U.S. counterterrorism operations have taken out 74 high-profile leaders of such organizations. However, he did not disclose the names or locations of these targets, citing security reasons.
The Waltz’s growing concern about Afghanistan becoming a breeding ground for terror once again. He has repeatedly cautioned that terrorist factions there are regrouping and could orchestrate attacks reminiscent of 9/11.
In addition to addressing terror threats, Waltz mentioned that 45 American citizens detained abroad have been brought back home during Trump’s tenure. This includes two individuals recently freed from Taliban captivity.
Waltz stressed the need for vigilance, warning that the U.S. must act before another devastating attack takes place.
