US Delegation and COAS Pakistan’s Army Strengthen Ties, Eye Groundbreaking Mineral Development Collaboration

RAWALPINDI, April 9, 2025: Pakistan and the United States have agreed to deepen cooperation in mineral development and explore new avenues of strategic collaboration, as a high-level US delegation met with Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters on Wednesday.

The delegation was led by Mr. Eric Meyer, Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, and the meeting took place in the backdrop of Pakistan’s Mineral Investment Forum—an initiative aimed at unlocking the country’s vast mineral wealth through global partnerships.

The visiting delegation appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in launching the first-of-its-kind Mineral Investment Forum and expressed confidence in Islamabad’s policy direction, which encourages mutually beneficial foreign investment in the mining sector.

Mr. Meyer highlighted the US administration’s interest in collaborating with Pakistan on mineral development, describing it as a core area of mutual interest. He also acknowledged the country’s steadily improving investment environment and its potential to attract international investors.

The two sides also exchanged views on global developments and Pakistan’s regional security concerns. Emphasizing the need to broaden the scope of bilateral cooperation, both parties agreed to pursue business-to-business (B2B) engagement alongside existing government-to-government (G2G) and people-to-people (P2P) initiatives, with a shared commitment to strengthening ties across multiple domains.
