Iran has welcomed the trilateral agreement signed by the Presidents of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan in Khujand on March 31, describing it as a significant step toward regional stability and cooperation.
In a statement issued on Friday, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baqaei, commended the landmark agreement between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, and President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan. The three leaders signed a document concerning the junction point of their respective state borders and adopted the Khujand Declaration on Eternal Friendship.
Baqaei hailed the agreement as a meaningful move by the three Central Asian countries to reaffirm mutual respect for territorial integrity and national sovereignty, build trust, and strengthen peace and stability in the region.
Reiterating Iran’s principled stance in support of peaceful resolution of border disputes and regional convergence efforts, Baqaei expressed hope that the trilateral accord would contribute to enduring peace, greater mutual understanding, enhanced cooperation across various sectors, and sustainable economic development in Central Asia.
