Security Forces Eliminate Militants and Facilitators in Katlang Operation

A counter-terrorism operation was conducted early this morning in the mountainous region of Katlang, Babuzai, in Mardan district, away from civilian populations, according to official sources.

The operation targeted members of the extremist group and their facilitators, with officials asserting that no civilians were present in these remote areas. If any civilians were found at the location, they may have been involved as facilitators, sources added.

Reports circulating on social media claim that civilians were also killed during the operation, with allegations that innocent individuals were targeted. However, officials have questioned the credibility of such claims, emphasizing the need for verification based on ground realities.

Authorities are currently investigating reports regarding any civilian casualties to ascertain their authenticity.

According to sources, a significant number of extremist elements were neutralized in the operation. Intelligence suggested that these militants were planning a major attack during Eid, prompting swift action by security forces.

Local facilitators supporting the militants were also among those killed in the operation. The extremist group had established hideouts in the Katlang mountain range, which were targeted at three different locations.

Security forces remain vigilant to prevent any potential threats and ensure the safety of the region.
