The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has claimed responsibility for an attack targeting a vehicle carrying Taliban members on the Kabul–North highway in Qarabagh district, reporting that two Taliban members were killed and another was wounded in the operation.
In a statement issued on Monday, 26 October, the group said the attack took place at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. According to the AFF, its forces carried out the operation against the targeted vehicle, while no casualties were reported among its own fighters.
The group also released a video purportedly showing the incident, including an explosion beside the highway. The circumstances of the attack and the reported casualties could not be independently verified from the information available.
The latest incident comes three days after the Afghanistan Freedom Front claimed responsibility for a rocket attack on Bagram military base on 23 October, reporting that the strike had caused casualties among Taliban forces.
According to accounts cited by Afghanistan International, several military experts said foreign militants stationed at the base were among the intended targets. The experts reportedly indicated that some individuals may have been killed or wounded and that facilities and training areas used by the militants sustained damage. These claims have not been independently verified.
The two reported incidents highlight continuing security tensions in Afghanistan and underscore the challenges facing the Taliban authorities in maintaining security along major transport routes and at strategically significant military installations.
The Kabul–North highway is an important transport corridor, while Bagram remains a strategically significant military facility. Reports of attacks in these locations are likely to draw further attention to the country’s evolving security situation and the activities of armed opposition groups.
