The Government of Pakistan has strongly condemned what it describes as a deliberate and unlawful drone incursion into Pakistani territory from Afghan soil, terming the incident a serious violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Pakistan has made it unequivocally clear that the use of Afghan territory to launch drones or conduct hostile operations against Pakistan is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. According to the Government of Pakistan, its air defence systems detected, tracked and successfully neutralised all intruding drones before they could reach their intended targets. The attempted attack was therefore thwarted before the drones could strike their designated objectives.
Following the attempted drone incursion, Pakistan stated that it exercised its sovereign right to self-defence and conducted precision aerial and drone strikes against 10 locations in Afghanistan that it identified as being used for the launching and storage of the drones involved in hostile operations against Pakistan.
Pakistan maintains that the strikes were carefully targeted, proportionate and limited to identified military objectives directly associated with the attempted attacks.
The Government has emphasised that the operations were not undertaken with the objective of widening the conflict, but were carried out in response to what Pakistan regards as a direct and serious threat to its territorial security. Pakistan has reiterated that its armed forces remain fully prepared to protect the country’s airspace, territorial integrity, civilian population and national security against any hostile activity.
Pakistan has once again made clear that it will not accept the use of Afghan territory as a platform for attacks against Pakistan. Whether such activities are conducted by terrorist organisations operating from Afghan soil or by elements associated with the Afghan Taliban authorities themselves, Pakistan maintains that attacks originating from Afghan territory constitute a serious threat that requires an effective response.
Pakistan has repeatedly raised its concerns regarding militant and terrorist networks operating from Afghan territory and has called upon the Afghan authorities to take concrete and verifiable measures to prevent their territory from being used against Pakistan.
The latest incident, according to Pakistan, further underscores the urgency of addressing these security concerns through tangible action rather than assurances alone. Pakistan has called upon the Afghan Taliban authorities to immediately cease all hostile activities against Pakistan and to take effective measures to ensure that Afghan territory is not used for attacks or other hostile operations against Pakistan.
Islamabad has stressed that the responsibility to prevent the use of territory under Afghan control for such activities cannot be addressed merely through statements or denials. Pakistan expects concrete, sustained and verifiable steps to prevent the launching, facilitation and support of attacks against Pakistan from Afghan soil.
Despite the latest escalation, Pakistan has reiterated that it does not seek confrontation or unnecessary escalation. Pakistan remains committed to regional peace, dialogue and constructive engagement, and continues to believe that outstanding issues between neighbouring states should be addressed through meaningful diplomatic engagement and responsible state-to-state mechanisms.
At the same time, Islamabad has cautioned that its commitment to peace should not be interpreted as weakness or as an unlimited tolerance of hostile actions. Pakistan’s position, according to the Government, is that dialogue and self-defence are not contradictory. While diplomatic avenues remain open, the state retains the responsibility to protect its people, territory and national security.
Pakistan has reiterated that respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity must remain fundamental principles governing relations between neighbouring states. The Government has made clear that any further violation of Pakistani territory or airspace will be viewed with the utmost seriousness and will receive an appropriate and decisive response.
Pakistan will continue to exercise vigilance along its borders and in its airspace and will take all necessary measures to protect its citizens and national security. At the same time, Islamabad has reiterated its preference for a peaceful regional environment in which neighbouring countries address security concerns through dialogue, cooperation and responsible action.
Pakistan’s message is unequivocal: Afghan territory must not be used as a launching ground for attacks or hostile operations against Pakistan. Islamabad has called upon the Afghan Taliban authorities to fulfil their responsibilities, take concrete action against elements involved in attacks against Pakistan, and prevent any further escalation.
Pakistan remains committed to peace and constructive engagement, but it has also reaffirmed that the protection of its sovereignty, territorial integrity and citizens remains an uncompromising national responsibility. Pakistan seeks peace and stability in the region, but will take all necessary measures to defend its territory, its people and its national security.
