Security forces have killed 11 terrorists affiliated with the Indian proxy Fitna al-Hindustan during two separate intelligence-based operations conducted in the districts of Kharan and Washuk, Balochistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to ISPR, the operations were conducted on 6 and 7 September as part of the ongoing counterterrorism campaign against terrorist elements operating in the province. The operations were launched on the basis of credible intelligence regarding the presence and activities of terrorists associated with Fitna al-Hindustan.
During the first operation in Kharan, terrorists attempted to block a road and disrupt local traffic, creating a threat to public movement and security in the area. Security forces responded swiftly and effectively to the attempted disruption. Following an engagement with the terrorists, eight terrorists operating under Indian patronage were killed. The timely intervention prevented the terrorists from further disrupting local traffic and helped avert a potential threat to civilians and public infrastructure.
A separate intelligence-based operation was conducted in Washuk District following information regarding a terrorist hideout. Security forces effectively targeted the suspected hideout, resulting in its destruction. During the operation, an intense exchange of fire took place between security forces and the terrorists. Following the engagement, three terrorists were killed. A substantial quantity of explosives was also recovered from the site. According to ISPR, approximately 2.9 tonnes of explosive material were recovered from the Washuk area.
The recovered explosives were reportedly being used for the preparation and manufacture of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), indicating the potential capability of the terrorist network to conduct attacks using large quantities of explosive material.
Following the successful operations, clearance operations are continuing in the surrounding areas to eliminate any other terrorists who may still be present and to ensure that no residual threat remains. Security forces are maintaining heightened vigilance across the affected areas and are continuing efforts to identify and neutralize terrorist networks, their facilitators and support infrastructure.
The operations form part of Pakistan’s broader and sustained counterterrorism campaign aimed at preventing terrorist organizations from establishing footholds, disrupting their operational capabilities and protecting the lives and property of citizens.
ISPR reaffirmed that operations against foreign-sponsored and foreign-assisted terrorism will continue until the threat is effectively eliminated. The latest operations demonstrate the continued operational focus of security forces on intelligence-driven counterterrorism efforts, particularly against militant networks attempting to disrupt peace and stability in Balochistan.
The recovery of a significant quantity of explosive material also highlights the importance of intelligence-based operations in identifying terrorist infrastructure before it can be used to facilitate attacks.
According to the military’s media wing, under the framework of Azm-e-Istehkam, the counterterrorism campaign being conducted by security forces and other law-enforcement agencies will continue with full momentum.
