The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Bannu Region, in coordination with local police, conducted a successful intelligence-based operation against terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Khwarij (FAK), also known as the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), in Bannu District.
During the operation, security personnel effectively engaged the terrorists, resulting in the elimination of five terrorists, while several others managed to escape under the cover of the operation.
The coordinated action was carried out following intelligence regarding the presence and movement of FAK terrorists in the area. CTD personnel and local police moved against the suspected hideout and launched an effective counter-operation, catching the terrorists off guard.
Five terrorists were eliminated during the ensuing engagement, dealing a significant blow to the network operating in the district. Several other terrorists, however, managed to flee from the scene.
Security personnel subsequently carried out a search of the area to ensure that no remaining terrorists were present and to prevent the fleeing members of the group from regrouping. The operation highlights the continued efforts of the CTD and local police to disrupt terrorist networks and prevent attacks in Bannu and adjoining areas.
