A police mobile van was targeted in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in the mountainous area of Ghol Banda near Bahadur Khel, in Banda Daud Shah Tehsil of Karak district, leaving a police driver martyred and six other personnel injured.

According to local sources, the police vehicle was travelling toward Sardargah when an explosive device planted along the route detonated as the van passed through the area. The powerful blast struck the vehicle and injured all seven police personnel travelling inside.

The injured officers were identified as Syed Shah, Noorshali, Imran, Shamim, Gohar, Yaseen and police driver Wajid. All seven personnel were immediately evacuated from the scene and shifted to a hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Despite receiving medical attention, Wajid succumbed to his injuries and was martyred. The deceased police driver was reportedly a resident of the Gadi Khel area. The six other injured personnel remain under medical treatment, with doctors providing them with the necessary care.

Following the attack, police and security personnel moved swiftly to secure the area and establish a security cordon around the blast site. Investigators have begun collecting evidence from the scene as part of an effort to determine the nature of the explosive device, establish how it was planted and identify those responsible for the attack.

Security personnel are also conducting searches in the surrounding mountainous areas to locate possible suspects and determine whether the attackers received assistance from local facilitators.
