At least nine people were injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) planted on a motorcycle detonated in Makeen Bazaar, South Waziristan, according to police officials.
The explosion occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. in the busy market area, causing injuries to civilians and members of a local peace committee. Police said the IED had been planted on a motorcycle by unidentified individuals. According to police, three members of the local peace committee Inayatullah, Sharat Khan, and Bangi Khan were among those injured in the blast. The injured peace committee members were subsequently shifted to Razmak for further medical treatment, according to police sources.
Other civilians injured in the explosion were moved to a local medical facility for treatment. The identities and condition of the remaining injured individuals were not immediately available in the initial information.
Following the blast, police personnel cordoned off the area and tightened security arrangements around Makeen Bazaar. Security measures were intensified to secure the scene, prevent further threats, and facilitate the initial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
Authorities have begun further inquiries into the incident, while search and inspection activities are continuing in the surrounding area.
