Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Waziristan against terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Khwarij, also known as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), eliminating one terrorist and injuring several others during an exchange of fire.
According to security sources, the operation was launched after receiving intelligence regarding the presence of TTP terrorists in the area. Security personnel moved in to target the suspected terrorist hideout, triggering an intense exchange of fire.
During the operation, a terrorist identified as Saad Shaheen was eliminated, while several other terrorists were reportedly injured. Security forces continued the operation to track down the remaining terrorists and prevent them from escaping into nearby areas.
The operation comes amid continued security operations against TTP terrorists operating in the tribal districts, where security forces have intensified intelligence-based actions to disrupt terrorist networks and prevent attacks against civilians and security personnel.
IED Blast Injures Nine in Makeen Bazaar
Separately, an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Makeen Bazaar of South Waziristan left nine people injured.
The blast triggered a security response, with security forces reaching the site, cordoning off the area and launching a search operation to determine the circumstances surrounding the explosion and establish whether any other explosive devices had been planted nearby.
The injured were shifted to a medical facility for treatment, while further investigation into the blast was underway.
Security forces have been conducting heightened security measures across South Waziristan following a series of terrorist attacks and IED incidents, with intelligence-based operations being carried out to identify those involved and dismantle terrorist networks operating in the area.
