A bridge on the N-25 National Highway between Injiri Cross and Khad Koocha in Mastung district was destroyed in a blast late last night, according to officials. The incident is attributed to Fitna al-Hindustan, which reportedly targeted the vital highway infrastructure. The explosion caused significant damage to the bridge, disrupting an important transportation link in the area.
No casualties have been reported so far. The affected section of the N-25 is an important route for civilian and commercial traffic across Balochistan. Damage to the bridge is therefore expected to cause disruption to the movement of passengers, goods, and vehicles until the route is assessed and necessary restoration work is completed.
Following the blast, security personnel secured the area and initiated an assessment of the site. Authorities are also examining the circumstances surrounding the incident and the extent of the damage.
The targeting of a public bridge represents an attack on critical civilian infrastructure and has the potential to disrupt daily life and commercial activity for local communities that depend on the highway.
Relevant authorities are expected to undertake repair and restoration measures once the area has been cleared and declared safe. Security arrangements in the surrounding area have also been strengthened to prevent further incidents.
The incident underscores the continuing security challenges faced by Balochistan and the vulnerability of essential transportation infrastructure to acts of sabotage.
