A police constable was martyred after terrorists opened fire in the Inayat Kallay Bazaar area of Bajaur, once again underscoring the risks faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police personnel serving on the frontline of the fight against terrorism.

According to local sources, the terrorists targeted Constable Rehmatullah, a resident of Lagharai, in the bazaar area. He sustained gunshot wounds in the attack and was martyred.

The attackers fled the area after carrying out the targeted shooting.

Police launched an investigation following the incident and began efforts to collect evidence and trace those responsible. Security measures were also strengthened in the surrounding area as authorities initiated a search for the attackers.

The martyrdom of Constable Rehmatullah adds to the sacrifices being made by KP Police personnel as they continue to perform frontline security duties amid persistent terrorist threats across the province.

The latest incident comes after another targeted attack on KP Police in Lakki Marwat, where Khwarij opened fire on police personnel near the Old Police Lines. Constable Sajid Ullah was martyred in that attack, while Constable Muhammad Waqas was wounded.

According to police, the Khwarij targeted the policemen while they were performing their duties before fleeing the area. Police subsequently cordoned off the locality and launched a search operation to trace the attackers and their possible accomplices.

Together, the two incidents underscore the continuing sacrifices of KP Police, whose personnel remain exposed to direct terrorist attacks while carrying out routine security duties and protecting local communities.

The attacks also highlight the importance of intelligence-led policing, rapid response and coordinated operations to prevent terrorists from exploiting vulnerable areas and targeting law-enforcement personnel.

Police and security authorities remain engaged in efforts to identify those responsible for the Bajaur attack and dismantle the networks facilitating such attacks.
