Security forces eliminated multiple terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Khwarij groups Geedar and Ariana during an intelligence-based operation in Bannu, according to security sources.
Among those eliminated was a terrorist identified as Lali, who was associated with the two groups operating under the umbrella of Fitna al-Khwarij.
The operation was launched on the basis of intelligence regarding the presence and movement of Fitna al-Khwarij terrorists in the area. Security forces acted on the intelligence and targeted the suspected terrorist positions, resulting in the elimination of multiple terrorists.
The operation also targeted hideouts and positions being used by the terrorists to facilitate their activities in the area. Security personnel subsequently carried out a search and clearance operation to ensure that no remaining terrorist elements posed a threat.
The identification of Lali is expected to assist investigators in establishing the network, associates and operational activities of the groups involved. Further details regarding the identities of the other terrorists eliminated in the operation are expected as the identification process continues.
The operation underscores the continued intelligence-led counterterrorism campaign in Bannu, where security forces have intensified action against Fitna al-Khwarij networks and their local support and facilitation structures.
Security forces remain engaged in clearance and intelligence operations across the district to disrupt terrorist networks, dismantle their hideouts and prevent attacks against civilians and security personnel.
