An important jirga comprising local religious scholars, Muftis, and tribal elders was held in Spinwam Tehsil of North Waziristan under the leadership of the Commandant Badr Rifles to deliberate on matters related to regional security, prevention of extremism, and the resolution of public grievances.
During the jirga, detailed discussions were held on maintaining peace and stability in the area, countering extremist activities, and strengthening cooperation between security forces, religious scholars, and tribal communities. The participants emphasized the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in ensuring lasting peace, social harmony, and the rule of law.
Addressing the gathering, the Commandant Badr Rifles urged local religious scholars and tribal elders to play their vital role in preventing any form of support, assistance, or shelter being provided to extremist elements or their affiliates. He further stressed that mosques and seminaries must remain centers of education, guidance, and community welfare and should not be misused for any activities that threaten peace and security.
The Commandant highlighted the importance of continued cooperation between security forces and local communities, stating that the active participation of tribal elders and religious scholars remains essential for defeating extremist narratives and maintaining a peaceful environment in the region.
On the occasion, religious scholars and tribal elders reaffirmed their full cooperation with security forces and expressed their commitment to working collectively for peace, stability, and the supremacy of law in North Waziristan. They appreciated ongoing efforts aimed at improving security conditions and addressing the concerns of local residents.
During the jirga, tribal representatives also highlighted several challenges faced by the local population due to recent heavy rains. They brought attention to issues affecting different areas of Spinwam and requested the provision of Water Supply Schemes (WSS) for Shashi Khel, Tori Mir Ali, and Chhota Ditta Khel to address the water-related needs of residents.
Responding to the concerns raised by local elders, the Commandant Badr Rifles assured participants of all possible support and cooperation for resolving public issues and facilitating development initiatives in the area. He emphasized that improving the quality of life for local communities remains an important priority alongside maintaining peace and security.
The jirga concluded with a renewed commitment from all participants to continue joint efforts for peace, stability, and development.
