Security forces eliminated two terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the Khoi Bahara area of Kulachi tehsil in Dera Ismail Khan district, security sources said on Saturday.
According to the sources, the operation was launched after security agencies received credible intelligence regarding the presence of Fitna al-Khwarij terrorists in the area. As security personnel moved to cordon off the suspected hideout, the terrorists opened fire, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire.
Security forces responded swiftly and effectively, eliminating two terrorists during the engagement. The bodies of both militants were recovered from the site of the operation.
Although the identities of the slain terrorists have yet to be officially disclosed, preliminary assessments suggest they were associated with militant networks active in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and had been involved in planning terrorist activities in the region.
Following the operation, security forces launched an extensive search and clearance operation to locate any remaining terrorists, dismantle possible hideouts and ensure the area is completely cleared of militant presence.
The latest action comes amid an intensified counterterrorism campaign across southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where security forces have recently conducted a series of intelligence-based operations against Fitna al-Khwarij. The region has witnessed sustained efforts aimed at disrupting terrorist infrastructure, preventing planned attacks and denying militants the ability to regroup.
Security sources reiterated that operations against terrorist elements will continue without interruption until the threat posed by militant networks is completely eliminated and lasting peace is restored across the region.
