The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Hyderabad has arrested terrorist of Afghan nationality during an intelligence-based operation in the limits of Hatri Police Station, officials said.
According to CTD officials, the arrested terrorist, identified as Amir Suleman Khel, was allegedly associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and was involved in planning terrorist activities.
The operation was carried out on the basis of intelligence information, following which CTD personnel apprehended the suspect and recovered a hand grenade from his possession. Officials said the recovered explosive was intended to be used for terrorist activities.
Initial investigation revealed that the suspect was a trained operative and had allegedly remained involved in terrorist activities in Afghanistan before entering Pakistan. CTD officials said his alleged links with the banned TTP network had also emerged during preliminary questioning.
The arrest also highlighted another dimension of the security challenge, as officials said the suspect was residing in Pakistan without valid travel or residency documents. He reportedly did not possess any legal documentation proving his stay in the country.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections related to terrorism and illegal stay in Pakistan, while further investigation is underway to determine his network links, movement history, and possible involvement in other terrorist activities.
Security officials have repeatedly maintained that foreign nationals linked with terrorist networks pose a serious threat, particularly when they exploit undocumented movement routes and cross-border connections to facilitate extremist activities.
The arrest comes amid continued counterterrorism operations across Pakistan against networks attempting to carry out attacks, recruit individuals, and establish support structures. Intelligence-based operations remain a key component of efforts to disrupt terrorist networks before they can execute their plans.
