A major potential tragedy was averted as security forces, during a successful search and combing operation in the Mambati Barakzai and Khani Kallay areas of Bannu, detected and neutralized six improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Fitna al-Khawarij along bridges and important routes used for public movement.
According to police officials, the IEDs were strategically placed with the apparent intention of targeting security personnel and civilians travelling through the area. The Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU), demonstrating exceptional professionalism and technical expertise, safely defused and neutralized all six explosive devices before they could cause loss of life or damage to public infrastructure.
Authorities confirmed that the recovered IEDs contained approximately 120 kilograms of explosive material in total. The explosive material was safely disposed of through controlled procedures, eliminating a significant threat to the local population and preventing a possible major incident.
