A joint search and combing operation was conducted in different areas of Miryan in Bannu to strengthen security measures and prevent terrorist activities, with law enforcement agencies taking effective action against suspicious elements.
During the operation, security personnel carried out door-to-door searches, verified the identification documents of residents, and conducted thorough checks to detect any potential security threats.
The operation resulted in the detention of 14 suspected individuals, while a significant quantity of weapons, ammunition, and other equipment was recovered. The recovered items included two Kalashnikovs, one repeater gun, four rifles, several rounds of ammunition, and eight motorcycles.
The Bomb Disposal Unit also carried out a successful clearance operation in the Mambati Barkzai and Khani Kallay areas, safely defusing six improvised explosive devices (IEDs). According to officials, approximately 120 kilograms of explosive material had been installed in these devices, which was neutralized through professional handling by the bomb disposal teams.
The timely action prevented a potential major incident and ensured the safety of residents.
Security authorities reiterated that targeted operations, search and combing activities, and intelligence-based actions will continue across the district to counter terrorist threats, disrupt suspicious activities, and maintain peace and stability.
The operation reflects continued efforts by law enforcement and security institutions to strengthen counterterrorism measures and protect the lives and property of citizens.
