Pakistan has called for sustained diplomacy and dialogue to address rising regional tensions, stressing that continued instability serves no country’s interests.

Speaking at a meeting of the United Nations Security Council, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said diplomacy and continuous negotiations remain the only viable path to achieving lasting solutions to disputed issues.

He warned that escalating tensions in the region benefit no one and emphasized the need to end the cycle of violence and instability. The Pakistani envoy said Islamabad remains actively engaged in constructive diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions, supporting a ceasefire and promoting regional peace and stability.

Asim Iftikhar further underscored the importance of exercising restraint during sensitive negotiations, urging all parties to avoid statements or actions that could fuel misunderstandings or complicate the diplomatic process.

He said all attention and efforts should remain focused on ensuring the effective implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, describing it as essential to advancing reconciliation and preserving the momentum of ongoing diplomatic engagement.
