Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday said Pakistan was fully aware of attempts by hostile proxy networks to destabilize the country and would respond to cross-border terrorism with the full force of the state.

Addressing graduating officers of the National Security and War Course during his visit to the National Defence University, the Field Marshal said the nature of warfare had transformed significantly, requiring armed forces to continuously adapt their strategies and capabilities according to emerging challenges.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir said strategic clarity and institutional professionalism were essential to effectively deal with complex security challenges in the contemporary environment.

He said institutions like the National Defence University were preparing future military and civilian leadership to address hybrid, conventional and unconventional threats.

The Field Marshal said Pakistan was closely monitoring attempts by hostile intelligence agencies to undermine the country’s stability, adding that proxy networks operating under the patronage of enemy agencies would not be allowed to harm Pakistan’s peace and economic progress.

“Proxy networks working under hostile intelligence sponsorship will not succeed in damaging Pakistan’s peace and economic development,” he said.

Talking about cross-border terrorism, Field Marshal Asim Munir said the state would take decisive action against such threats and, with the support of the nation, eliminate terrorist hideouts and their facilitators.

He stressed that modern conflicts were not won through media narratives or political slogans but through faith, unity and discipline.

The Field Marshal expressed complete confidence in the professional capabilities, high morale and operational readiness of Pakistan’s armed forces, saying the military remained prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and security.

He urged the graduating officers to uphold the principles of integrity, selfless service and unwavering commitment to the nation as they take on future responsibilities.

Earlier upon arrival at the National Defence University, Field Marshal Asim Munir was received by the President of NDU.

The visit comes as Pakistan continues to confront a complex security environment involving conventional threats, hybrid warfare challenges and cross-border terrorism.

The Field Marshal reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security institutions would continue strengthening their capabilities to safeguard national interests and ensure peace and stability.
