Young Doctor Among Civilians Injured in BLA Attack Near Kalat

A tragic incident near Kalat has once again highlighted the devastating impact of violence on ordinary citizens, after a young doctor and another civilian were injured in a shooting attributed by local sources to armed elements linked to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

According to initial reports, Dr. Zarak, a young medical professional dedicated to serving local communities, was among those wounded when unidentified armed assailants opened fire near Kalat. Another civilian also sustained injuries during the incident.

The attack has generated widespread concern among residents, community leaders, and civil society representatives, who view such incidents as a direct threat not only to individual lives but also to the social and economic well-being of the region.

Dr. Zarak had  been actively involved in providing healthcare services to local communities, often working under challenging circumstances to ensure that residents had access to medical care. The targeting of individuals engaged in public service has intensified fears among professionals working in critical sectors throughout the province.

Community representatives noted that attacks on doctors, teachers, engineers, traders, and students have far-reaching consequences that extend beyond the immediate victims. Such incidents can disrupt healthcare delivery, hinder educational progress, discourage investment, and undermine development efforts in already vulnerable areas.

Local observers have emphasized that violence against civilians creates an atmosphere of uncertainty and fear, affecting families and communities alike. Many residents expressed concern that continued insecurity could negatively impact opportunities for young people and impede long-term development initiatives across the region.

Tribal elders and community leaders have called for collective efforts to safeguard civilians and ensure that professionals serving local populations can carry out their duties without fear. They stressed that sustainable peace, stability, and development remain essential for the prosperity of Balochistan and its people.

Residents have also urged all stakeholders to prioritize the protection of innocent lives and support initiatives aimed at fostering peace and strengthening community resilience.

The incident has once again underscored the human cost of violence, particularly when individuals dedicated to public service become victims of insecurity. Community members have extended their prayers and best wishes for the swift recovery of Dr. Zarak and all those injured in the incident.
