A large tribal jirga held in Malik Painda Khan Kalay has announced a united campaign against the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), with tribal elders and residents pledging full support for state-led counterterrorism efforts and vowing collective resistance against terrorists operating in the region.

The gathering, chaired by tribal elder Malik Painda Khan, brought together a large number of elders, community leaders and local residents who adopted a unanimous stance against terrorism. Participants declared that the time had come for decisive action against terrorist groups responsible for violence, displacement and insecurity in the area.

Addressing the jirga, Malik Painda Khan said local tribes would stand shoulder to shoulder with the State of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army in efforts aimed at eliminating the TTP and restoring lasting peace.

The tribal elder also spoke emotionally about the killing of local youth Salman Bazai, describing it as a symbol of the suffering endured by communities affected by terrorism. He claimed that despite the passage of 28 days since the incident, the victim’s body remained in the mountains and had not been returned to the family for burial.

“Our young man Salman Bazai was killed, yet the suffering did not end there,” he told the gathering. “Even after 28 days, his body has not been brought back. We have been denied the right to bury our own son.”

Malik Painda Khan accused terrorists of turning life into a struggle for local residents, saying families had been displaced, homes destroyed and entire communities forced to leave their ancestral areas due to insecurity.

“When our people were prevented from living peacefully on their own land, a point came when silence was no longer an option,” he said, urging tribes to unite against terrorist violence.

Participants in the jirga expressed strong support for the call to action and pledged to work collectively against terrorist networks. Tribal elders emphasized that community unity, cooperation with security institutions and public resistance to extremist influence were essential for maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The gathering concluded with a unanimous resolution reaffirming continued cooperation with state institutions and a commitment to supporting efforts aimed at defeating terrorism and restoring security across the affected areas.
