An explosion was reported in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul on Saturday, with local sources saying the blast occurred in the vicinity of a boys’ school and close to the residence of a senior Taliban official.

According to local sources, the explosion took place around midday in the area falling under the jurisdiction of Kabul’s 11th police district. The blast was reported outside Syed Al-Naseri Boys School and near the home of Qudratullah Amini, the Taliban’s deputy governor for Kabul province.

Video footage circulating from the scene reportedly shows Taliban personnel transporting at least one injured individual in a pickup vehicle following the incident. However, the exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed.

Qudratullah Amini, who hails from Panjshir province, previously served as the Taliban-appointed governor of Panjshir before assuming his current position in Kabul.

The nature of the explosion remains unclear, and no official information has been released regarding the type of device used or the intended target.

Taliban authorities have not yet issued a statement on the incident. No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the blast so far.

The incident comes amid persistent security concerns in Afghanistan, where attacks targeting Taliban officials, security personnel, and public locations continue to be reported despite repeated claims by the Taliban administration that security across the country has significantly improved.
