Iranian authorities have claimed to have launched a major security operation across the country’s western regions, resulting in the arrest of nearly 240 individuals and the seizure of more than 100 explosive devices, according to official and media reports.
Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) said the operation was carried out amid heightened security concerns, targeting individuals allegedly involved in sabotage, bomb-making, arms smuggling and espionage-related activities.
According to reports, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps conducted coordinated operations in at least two western provinces, including Kurdistan and Kermanshah.
In Kurdistan province, authorities claimed to have arrested 11 individuals during security raids, while one alleged member of an armed Kurdish group was killed during the operation.
Officials said a cache of weapons and ammunition was also recovered in the province.
In separate raids in the same province, nearly 70 more people were detained over suspected involvement in activities such as manufacturing explosives and smuggling weapons.
A large-scale operation was also carried out in Kermanshah province, where authorities claimed to have arrested 155 individuals.
According to Iranian officials, those detained were linked to what they described as “counter-revolutionary groups,” including four alleged spies working for Mossad.
In a separate development in Tehran, police announced the arrest of a man accused of collecting intelligence on missile strike locations and passing the information to what authorities described as enemy networks.
The reported crackdown comes amid rising regional tensions and increased security alerts inside Iran, particularly following recent escalations involving missile exchanges and intelligence-related allegations in the region.
