Security forces of Pakistan eliminated five terrorists belonging to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) during an intelligence-based operation in Barkhan, sources confirmed on Monday.

According to reports, the operation was launched after credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. Acting swiftly, security personnel surrounded the location and engaged the terrorists, resulting in the killing of all five.

Following the successful engagement, forces cordoned off the area and initiated a search and clearance operation to eliminate any remaining threats and ensure complete sanitization.

Pakistan’s security forces have continued to carry out precise, intelligence-led operations across volatile regions, maintaining pressure on terrorist networks attempting to destabilize the country.

A Pattern Beyond Borders

The latest operation comes amid growing concerns over cross-border terrorism, with Pakistani authorities repeatedly highlighting the role of elements operating from Afghan soil. Despite assurances by the Afghan Taliban, the de facto rulers in Afghanistan, that their territory would not be used against any country, particularly Pakistan, ground realities continue to contradict these commitments.

Security officials state that in a significant proportion of terrorist incidents inside Pakistan, links to Afghan nationals or networks based across the border have emerged. Intelligence assessments have also pointed to high-level interactions between anti-Pakistan terrorist elements and figures within Afghanistan, including reports of BLA chief Bashir Zeb engaging with regional authorities, as well as clandestine meetings involving hostile actors in Kabul.

Authorities further allege that terrorist groups are being patronized, facilitated, and in some cases directly supported through training camps and logistical networks operating from Afghan territory. This evolving threat landscape has compelled Pakistan to adopt a proactive security posture, including targeted actions under Operation Ghazab Lil Haqq, aimed at neutralizing threats emanating from across the border in response to continued provocations.

Officials have also expressed concern over a broader nexus involving hostile intelligence and support structures, describing an anti-Pakistan alignment that includes elements backed by India and Israel, allegedly providing financial and technological assistance to terrorist groups.

Separately, in a recent operation in Kharan, security forces effectively thwarted an infiltration attempt, eliminating three BLA terrorists in a swift and decisive response, underscoring the military’s continued vigilance and operational readiness across multiple fronts.
