The repatriation of Afghan nationals has resumed through the Khyber District border crossing following a reduction in tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistn frontier, officials confirmed.
Sources revealed that approximately 35,000 Afghan nationals have returned to Afghanistan over the past 12 days. Thousands continue to arrive daily from across the country at the Landi Kotal Holding Centre for registration and processing prior to their departure.
The repatriation process had temporarily stalled due to heightened tensions at the border. However, with the situation stabilizing, authorities have restarted the phased return in an organized manner.
Pakistan has in recent months intensified its security-driven policy framework, particularly focusing on the regulation of undocumented foreign nationals. Officials maintain that the initiative is aimed at safeguarding national security, amid growing evidence linking certain elements among illegal residents to terrorist activities, directly or indirectly.
Authorities stress that the repatriation process is being conducted in a lawful and humane manner, ensuring dignity while reinforcing border management and internal security. The government has reiterated that no undocumented foreign national will be allowed to stay in the country, as part of a broader effort to curb terrorism and strengthen national stability.
Officials further emphasized that the process will continue uninterrupted, reflecting Pakistan’s firm resolve to secure its borders while maintaining regional stability.
