A Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) patrolling vessel came under attack at sea near the Jiwani area of Gwadar in Balochistan province, resulting in the martyrdom of three personnel, according to initial reports and official sources. Security officials confirmed that the incident took place during routine maritime patrolling operations in coastal waters. The attack led to a fatal exchange under circumstances that remain under investigation.
The deceased personnel have been identified as Naik Afzal, Sepoy Jameel, and Sepoy Umair. Authorities expressed condolences over the loss of lives in the line of duty. Shortly after the incident, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) Jeyand faction issued a statement to media outlets claiming responsibility for the attack. Officials, however, have not independently verified the claim at this stage.
Authorities stated that the exact nature of the assault is still being determined and a detailed investigation has been launched to establish the sequence of events and identify all those involved. Security agencies have intensified surveillance in the coastal region following the attack, with enhanced measures being taken to secure maritime routes and sensitive installations.
The incident highlights continuing security challenges in Balochistan’s coastal belt, where security forces regularly conduct patrols to safeguard maritime boundaries and critical infrastructure.
