475 Terror Cases in 3 Months: KP Security Report Exposes Escalating Violence Across the Province

A quarterly security report on rising terrorism-related incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has revealed a significant escalation in violence across the province during the first three months of 2026. According to the Central Police Office (CPO), a total of 475 terrorism-related cases were registered across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the reporting period, reflecting a continued deterioration in the overall security environment.

The report highlights 161 incidents of armed firing, alongside 70 drone-related incidents, underscoring the evolving and increasingly complex nature of the threat landscape. Additionally, authorities recorded 54 bomb blasts and 27 grenade attacks during the same period.

Criminal activities linked to terrorism also showed concerning levels, with 28 cases of extortion and 9 kidnapping incidents reported. The report further documents 32 targeted killings and 3 suicide attacks, indicating sustained operational capabilities of hostile elements.

At the district level, Bannu emerged as the most affected area with more than 92 reported incidents, followed by North Waziristan with 88 cases. Dera Ismail Khan recorded 65 incidents, while Peshawar reported 44 cases during the same period.

Security officials stated that the data reflects mounting challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in countering evolving threat patterns, particularly in sensitive and border-adjacent regions of the province.

In response to the rising threat, the Central Police Office confirmed that police forces are being equipped with modern weapons, surveillance systems, and advanced technology to enhance operational effectiveness and improve response capabilities.

Officials emphasized that strengthening institutional capacity and improving technological readiness remain key priorities in addressing the growing security challenges in the province.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to restoring stability and ensuring public safety through sustained counterterrorism operations and enhanced coordination among security agencies.
