TTP Kharijit Commander Zahid Ali Qatiba Drowns During River Crossing Operation

In a significant incident impacting militant activity in the region, Zahid, also known as Qatiba, a Kharijit militant commander affiliated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), tragically drowned along with three of his associates while attempting to cross the Kabul River near the tri-junction of Malakand, Charsadda, and Bajaur.

According to security sources, Zahid, son of Sharif, was a close associate and deputy to Commander Abdul Hameed Hamasai, playing an active role in the operational planning and coordination of TTP activities in the area. The group attempted to traverse the river under adverse conditions, where they were caught in strong and dangerous currents that led to their untimely demise.

Authorities have successfully recovered the body of Zahid, which has been taken into police custody. Search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate the remaining three associates whose bodies are yet to be retrieved.

Security officials have noted that Zahid’s death represents a significant disruption to TTP’s operational network in the northern region, as he was considered a key tactical operative within the group. The incident underscores the unpredictable risks faced by militant elements in attempting to evade law enforcement and security measures while navigating challenging terrain.

Law enforcement agencies remain vigilant and continue to monitor the area to prevent further activities by residual militant elements, ensuring the safety and security of local communities. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to counterterrorism operations and to maintaining stability in the region through sustained intelligence-driven efforts.
