The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has categorically rejected claims attributed to the Afghan Taliban regime regarding the alleged removal of sections of the border fence along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier, terming them “fabricated, misleading, and part of a coordinated disinformation campaign.”
In an official statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry dismissed assertions circulating through Afghan sources and affiliated media channels, as well as narratives linked to Indian intelligence proxies, as “entirely baseless and detached from ground realities.”
The Ministry highlighted that the Pakistan-Afghanistan border spans approximately 2,640 kilometers across some of the world’s most rugged and challenging terrain. It emphasized that Pakistan has undertaken the sole responsibility of securing this extensive frontier through a comprehensive border management system, including the installation of fencing and surveillance mechanisms.
According to the statement, elements within the Afghan administration have consistently failed to curb cross-border movement of militants, smugglers, and criminal networks, instead allowing space for illegal infiltration. The Ministry recalled that the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), during a detailed press briefing on November 29, 2025, had already outlined the complex and evolving nature of the border security environment.
Addressing the circulation of video content allegedly showing damage to the border fence, the Ministry clarified that all such clips are “outdated, staged, or digitally misrepresented,” forming part of short-lived propaganda efforts. It noted that such material is often disseminated briefly to create confusion before those responsible withdraw from the scene.
The statement reaffirmed that the border fence remains intact and secure, and that any attempt to violate Pakistan’s territorial integrity is met with an immediate, firm, and proportionate response by security forces.
Referring to recent counterterrorism operations, the Ministry stated that during Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, Pakistani forces destroyed approximately 250 Afghan posts and took control of several others. It added that in the aftermath of these developments, certain elements have resorted to misinformation campaigns to obscure operational setbacks.
The Ministry further observed that similar unfounded claims have been made in the past, including allegations regarding the destruction of Pakistani military assets, drone strikes, and the capture of personnel—all of which were proven false.
Reiterating its position, the Government of Pakistan urged media outlets and the international community to exercise caution and verify facts before amplifying unsubstantiated narratives originating from partisan or unreliable sources.
“Disinformation cannot alter facts on the ground,” the statement concluded, adding that Pakistan remains committed to safeguarding its borders and countering propaganda with transparency and factual clarity.
