How Many Hidden Terror Networks Were Exposed by CTD Punjab, And How Many Operatives Were Arrested?

In a month-long intensive security campaign, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) successfully carried out 366 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across multiple cities in Punjab, resulting in the arrest of 36 individuals linked to terrorist activities. The operations underscore CTD’s continued commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens across the province.

According to the CTD spokesperson, the operations were conducted in Lahore, Faisalabad, Kasur, Jhelum, Chakwal, Okara, Khanewal, Rawalpindi, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Rajanpur, Sialkot, Jhang, Attock, and Sahiwal. Notably, two high-risk terrorists associated with the group “Fitna al-Khawarij” were apprehended from Faisalabad and Jhelum, along with explosive materials.

The arrested individuals were found in possession of an array of dangerous items, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs), detonators, safety fuses, wiring materials, 61 feet of explosive pamphlets, and cash. These seizures highlight the serious threat posed by organized terrorist elements operating within the province.

“The arrests are a result of precise intelligence and coordinated operations across Punjab,” said the CTD spokesperson. “These efforts not only neutralize immediate threats but also disrupt networks planning acts of violence, ensuring the safety of the general public.”

The Counter Terrorism Department reaffirmed its resolve to continue proactive intelligence-led operations to dismantle terrorist cells and prevent attacks before they occur. Security officials emphasized that ongoing vigilance, rapid response, and collaboration with local law enforcement remain critical in countering terrorism effectively.

These operations mark a significant achievement in Punjab’s ongoing counterterrorism efforts, demonstrating CTD’s capacity to identify, apprehend, and neutralize threats before they can endanger public safety.
