Pakistani security forces have initiated a large-scale retaliatory military operation across multiple areas of Balochistan along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Conducted during the night of March 3–4, 2026, the operation targets alleged hideouts and posts used by banned terrorist elements and their facilitators, according to official sources.
Authorities stated that the primary objective of the operation is to neutralize cross-border terrorism activities and eliminate threats to national security. Security officials emphasized that this campaign represents a measured yet decisive response to ongoing insurgent activities in the region, aimed at restoring stability in sensitive border areas.
The operation spans over fifty strategic locations and involves a coordinated use of modern and heavy weaponry. Security forces have deployed direct and indirect fire systems, anti-tank guided missiles, rocket launchers, long-range mortars, light and heavy artillery, and main battle tanks. Swarm drones are operating in conjunction with ground troops to precisely strike designated targets, ensuring maximum operational effectiveness. Officials described the offensive as a “calculated and robust” effort designed to inflict decisive damage on terrorist elements and their facilitators while minimizing risks to civilians.
The operation is currently active across multiple critical sectors of Balochistan. In the Kalat Division, forces are engaged in Pishin, Loye Band, and Badini sectors. In Zhob Division, operations are ongoing in Sambaza and Ghadwana, while in Nushki Division, Jani and Ghaznali sectors are being targeted. The Chiltan Ranges, including Gulistan, Dobandi, and Shashka sectors, are also part of the campaign. Security sources confirmed that these areas had reportedly been used as bases for cross-border terrorist activities, necessitating the comprehensive military response.
Officials have affirmed that the operation will continue until all threats are completely neutralized and an effective defensive balance is restored along the border regions. Pakistani authorities reiterated their unwavering commitment to protecting national sovereignty, securing borders, and safeguarding citizens against terrorism. They have also assured that the situation remains under control and that measures are being taken to ensure minimal disruption to civilian life while maximizing operational impact.
