Operation Ghazab Lil Haq: 331 Afghan Taliban Killed, 104 Checkposts Destroyed, 22 Captured

In the latest update on Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, Federal Minister for Information, Attaullah Tarar has confirmed that the operation has successfully neutralized 331 Afghan Taliban militants, with over 500 others reported injured. The operation, which was launched in response to a series of aggressive cross-border attacks by Afghan Taliban forces on February 27, 2026, has led to substantial operational success by the Pakistan Armed Forces.

Minister Attaullah Tarar provided critical insights in a morning update on X (formerly Twitter), stating that during the operation, Pakistani forces have destroyed 104 Taliban checkpoints and captured 22 positions from Afghan militants. Additionally, the operation has led to the destruction of 163 Taliban tanks and military vehicles, significantly crippling the Taliban’s military infrastructure.

Tarar further confirmed that 37 sites across Afghanistan were targeted by Pakistan’s airstrikes, with a significant impact on Taliban strongholds. These strikes have weakened the Taliban’s capability to launch further attacks against Pakistani border regions.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, head of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), provided additional details during a press conference, confirming the loss of 12 Pakistani soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of their country. Furthermore, 27 soldiers have been injured in ongoing operations.

“Operation Ghazab Lil Haq is a relentless response to the Taliban’s aggression. While we have suffered losses, the resolve of the Pakistan Army remains unshaken. We will continue until the region is secure,” said Lieutenant General Chaudhry.

The initial attack by Afghan Taliban forces on February 27 along the Pak-Afghan border prompted an immediate and effective response from the Pakistan Armed Forces, resulting in the initiation of Operation Ghazab Lil Haq. Since then, the operation has been intensifying, with Pakistan’s forces targeting militant strongholds and infrastructure across Afghanistan.

As of now, 297 Kharijite militants have been killed, and 450 injured during ongoing operations. Additionally, 89 militant posts have been destroyed, with 18 more taken over by Pakistani forces. The operation also includes the destruction of 115 Taliban tanks and armored vehicles.

The conflict has garnered international attention, with various world leaders and organizations weighing in on the situation. US President Donald Trump praised Pakistan for its actions, stating that Pakistan is handling the situation with great success, and emphasized that the United States would not interfere in Pakistan’s operations. “Pakistan is moving forward in an exceptional way with Afghanistan, and I respect the leadership of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir,” President Trump remarked. “They are two individuals I have immense respect for.”

In contrast, UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the European Union have called for an immediate ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan to prevent further escalation. The United Nations, along with the EU, has expressed concern over the growing humanitarian impact of the conflict.

On the diplomatic front, China’s Ambassador to Pakistan met with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to express solidarity in the fight against terrorism. China reaffirmed its support for Pakistan’s security efforts and its determination to combat cross-border militancy. Meanwhile, efforts at mediation and peace talks are being pursued by Russia, Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, as these countries work toward de-escalating tensions in the region.

In light of ongoing successes and challenges, the Pakistan Armed Forces have reiterated their unwavering commitment to securing the nation’s borders and eliminating terrorist groups operating within Afghan territory.

Spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Defence, Masharraf Zaidi, emphasized that Pakistan does not seek a war with Afghanistan but will continue its cross-border operations until the Taliban sever all ties with extremist groups and stop using Afghan soil to launch attacks on Pakistan.

“We are not at war with Afghanistan, but our military operations will continue until we eliminate all threats posed by terrorist groups using Afghan soil,” Zaidi stated. “Our forces are committed to protecting Pakistan and its people, and we will not hesitate to take decisive action to ensure their safety.”

Operation Ghazab Lil Haq is ongoing, with Pakistani forces determined to dismantle cross-border terrorism and neutralize the Taliban’s infrastructure. Despite the losses on both sides, Pakistan remains resolute in its efforts to safeguard its citizens and restore peace to the region.

The continued military action and diplomatic initiatives underscore the complexity of the situation but also the clarity of Pakistan’s stance on national security. The country’s leadership remains steadfast in its mission to protect its sovereignty, ensuring that no terrorist group can disrupt the peace and security of its people.
