Punjab Home Department Warns of Planned Terrorist Attacks in Lahore

The Punjab Home Department has issued a high-level threat alert for Lahore in light of credible intelligence indicating imminent terrorist activity targeting law enforcement and security installations. According to the alert, the commander of the militant group Fitna-e-Khawarij, identified as Asif Umar, has arrived in Lahore along with three trained suicide bombers. Intelligence reports confirm that between 25 February and 3 March 2026, the group has been actively planning attacks against police and other law enforcement institutions.

The Home Department stated that the commander and his associates traveled to Lahore via Tirah route after receiving training in Paktika. Additionally, the operation is reportedly being supported by 3–4 local facilitators from Lahore. These operatives have conducted reconnaissance of multiple potential targets and have already acquired suicide vests, firearms, explosives, and a rickshaw intended to be used in attacks.

The alert further specifies that explosives-laden vehicles (VBIEDs) are intended to be used as part of the planned assaults. Authorities have emphasized the urgent need for robust security measures, strict checking procedures, and heightened vigilance across all sensitive locations in Lahore to prevent any terrorist incident.

The Punjab Home Department urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity immediately to local law enforcement authorities. Security agencies are fully mobilized and coordinating efforts to neutralize the threat and ensure the safety of citizens.

This alert reflects the continued commitment of Pakistan’s security forces and civil authorities to proactively address terrorism and protect public safety across the country.
