Karachi Narrowly Escapes Major Disaster as CTD Encounter Leaves 4 Terrorists Dead, Explosives Recovered

The metropolitan city of Karachi narrowly escaped a major catastrophe following a decisive intelligence-based counterterrorism operation conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Shah Latif Town area. The high-intensity encounter resulted in the elimination of four terrorists and the recovery of a substantial quantity of explosive materials, preventing what authorities describe as a potentially devastating attack.

Senior CTD officials confirmed that the operation was launched based on credible intelligence obtained from previously arrested terrorists earlier this year. Acting on verified leads, CTD teams conducted a targeted raid at a suspected terrorist hideout. Upon arrival, security personnel came under heavy gunfire, triggering a fierce exchange.

During the intense confrontation, four terrorists sustained critical injuries and later died. Preliminary findings indicate that the terrorists were fatally struck by gunfire from their own accomplices amid the crossfire. The deceased terrorists have been identified as Jalil alias Fareed, Niaz alias King, and Hamdan alias Fareed, while efforts are ongoing to establish the identity of the fourth individual.

Two CTD officers Head Constable Muhammad Yousuf and Constable Raja Junaid — sustained injuries during the operation. Both were immediately provided medical assistance and are reported to be in stable condition.

Following the clearance of the premises, the Bomb Disposal Squad was called to assess potential explosive threats. A thorough search confirmed the presence of a large quantity of explosive materials stored inside drums. Initial investigations indicate that improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were being assembled at the site.

The Bomb Disposal Squad recovered detonators, detonating wires, electrical circuits, and other components used in the construction of explosive devices. The process of safely defusing and neutralizing the materials is currently underway, after which they will be transported to a secure location for controlled disposal.

Officials further revealed that earlier in January, approximately 2,000 kilograms of explosive material had been seized in a separate CTD operation, during which three terrorists were arrested. Intelligence derived from those arrests directly led to the Shah Latif Town operation. Preliminary investigations suggest that the arrested individuals are allegedly affiliated with the “Fitna Al-Hindustan Bashir Zeb Network,” a group suspected of orchestrating terrorist activities in the region.

In response to the operation and the possibility of additional accomplices, law enforcement agencies have intensified security measures across multiple districts, including Malir, establishing checkpoints and conducting search operations to apprehend any fleeing terrorists.

Authorities emphasized that the swift, coordinated, and professional response by the Counter Terrorism Department successfully thwarted a potentially large-scale terrorist plot. Security agencies reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to eliminating terrorism in all its forms and ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
