After Deadly Attacks, Balochistan Security Forces Secure Key Districts

In a press conference held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Balochistan authorities confirmed that security has largely been restored across the province following coordinated terrorist attacks on January 31, with the exception of some ongoing operations in the Nushki district.

Shahid Rand, addressing the media alongside Provincial Ministers Ali Madad Jatke, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Bakht Muhammad Kakr, and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hamza Shafqat, stated that the provincial security forces successfully foiled multiple terrorist attacks, preventing the militants from achieving their objectives. While the situation in Nushki required additional time to stabilize, authorities emphasized that the rest of Balochistan’s highways, districts, and key urban centers are under control.

The January 31 attacks resulted in the tragic loss of 36 civilians and 22 security personnel, highlighting the severity of the coordinated assaults. Authorities confirmed that search-and-comb operations are ongoing in Quetta, during which over 100 suspected individuals have been taken into custody. Weapons, including RPGs and anti-aircraft guns, have been recovered, and the identities of individuals involved in attacks on police stations have been established.

Authorities reassured the public that law enforcement is actively pursuing militants who escaped custody or attacked prisons, following confirmed attacks on two jails in Balochistan, including Nushki. The superintendent of Nushki Jail reported that conditions are now stabilized, and searches are underway for inmates who may have escaped during the unrest.

Shahid Rand further announced that mobile and internet services in Quetta are expected to be fully restored by Thursday night, ensuring uninterrupted communication for residents.

Additional Chief Secretary Hamza Shafqat emphasized that except for Nushki, the province remains secure, with polio vaccination campaigns continuing and educational examinations for eighth grade and matriculation students proceeding as scheduled. Authorities reassured the public that government institutions, healthcare services, and law enforcement are operational and committed to maintaining stability.

The provincial administration reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety, continuity of essential services, and rapid response to any emerging threats. Citizens were urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies while routine daily activities resume across the province.

Officials highlighted that Balochistan’s security forces, in coordination with federal authorities, remain on high alert to prevent further incidents and to secure critical infrastructure, including jails, highways, and urban centers, from future threats.
