Strategic Maritime Ties in Focus as Azerbaijan Naval Chief Meets Pakistan Navy Chief

Commander Azerbaijan Naval Forces (ANF), Rear Admiral Shahin Mammadov, called on Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI (M), T Bt, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), at Naval Headquarters, Islamabad, in a high-level engagement aimed at further strengthening bilateral naval cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

Upon arrival at Naval Headquarters, the visiting naval chief was warmly received by the Chief of the Naval Staff. A smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Navy presented a Guard of Honour to the distinguished guest. Rear Admiral Shahin Mammadov also laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada’s Monument, paying tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistan Armed Forces.

During the meeting, both naval leaders held comprehensive discussions on matters of mutual interest, with particular focus on the regional maritime security environment and evolving challenges in the maritime domain. The talks also explored avenues for enhanced cooperation in the fields of training, defence collaboration, and professional exchanges.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen and diversify the scope of the existing bilateral defence relationship, underscoring the importance of naval cooperation in promoting peace, stability, and security in the region.

The visiting dignitary was also given a detailed briefing on Pakistan Navy’s ongoing and future projects, highlighting modernization initiatives, operational readiness, and efforts aimed at safeguarding maritime interests and ensuring secure sea lanes.

Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy longstanding brotherly relations, characterized by close cooperation across multiple domains, particularly in the defence and naval spheres. The visit of the Commander Azerbaijan Naval Forces is expected to further enhance bilateral collaboration between the two countries, and deepen professional ties between the Pakistan Navy and Azerbaijan Naval Forces.

The engagement reflects the shared commitment of both navies to strengthening institutional linkages, promoting mutual understanding, and advancing collective maritime security objectives.
