The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that Secretary General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghidi, called on Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in a high-level meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation in counterterrorism and regional security.
According to ISPR, the meeting was held in the context of the ongoing visit of a 17-member IMCTC delegation to Pakistan from 2 to 6 February, during which the delegation is participating in a week-long specialized training programme at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST). The programme focuses on rehabilitation, reintegration and countering violent extremism, reflecting Pakistan’s evolving approach to addressing the root causes of terrorism.
During the meeting, both sides held in-depth discussions on matters of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on regional security dynamics and the need to further enhance collaborative counterterrorism efforts among IMCTC member states.
The leadership reaffirmed their shared commitment to combating terrorism and extremism through coordinated strategies, improved intelligence sharing, and capacity-building initiatives designed to strengthen the operational effectiveness of member countries.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir appreciated the constructive role of IMCTC in promoting stability across the Islamic world and advancing integrated efforts against terrorism. He emphasized the importance of institutional cooperation in addressing complex and evolving security challenges facing Muslim countries.
Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghidi, in turn, acknowledged Pakistan’s significant contributions and sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism, and commended the professionalism, resilience and operational excellence of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He noted that Pakistan’s experience and best practices continue to serve as a valuable reference for other member states of the coalition.
ISPR further stated that both sides underscored their resolve to further strengthen institutional cooperation in pursuit of regional peace, stability and security, and agreed to expand collaboration in training, strategic coordination and knowledge-sharing mechanisms.
The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) is a 43-nation military alliance, established in December 2015 under the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the objective of unifying and coordinating counterterrorism efforts across the Muslim world. Member states include Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Afghanistan, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Palestine, the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, among others.
