The Pakistan Navy has formally assumed command of Combined Task Force 150 (CTF 150) for the 14th time, reaffirming Pakistan’s continued commitment to maritime security and international cooperation. The command handover ceremony was conducted in accordance with established protocols and was attended by senior officials and representatives of member nations.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), command of CTF 150 was transferred to Commodore Muhammad Yasir Tahir of the Pakistan Navy, who assumed leadership from Commodore Fahd S. Aljowaid of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces during the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Commodore Muhammad Yasir Tahir expressed confidence in his team’s readiness to shoulder this important and prestigious responsibility. He emphasized the Pakistan Navy’s unwavering resolve to play a proactive role in promoting maritime security and regional stability, in close coordination with international partners.
Reiterating Pakistan Navy’s commitment, Commodore Tahir stated that robust measures will continue against illicit maritime activities, including piracy, smuggling, and trafficking. He further assured that the security of vital sea lines of communication (SLOCs) and major maritime trade routes will be ensured under his command.
CTF 150 operates across a vast maritime region, encompassing the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, and the Gulf of Oman, and plays a crucial role in monitoring, deterring, and disrupting illegal activities at sea. The task force is a key component of the broader Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), which promotes cooperative maritime security through multinational collaboration.
The command transition ceremony was witnessed by senior military officials and representatives of international member states, reflecting the high level of trust and confidence placed in the Pakistan Navy by the global maritime community.
