The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continues its sustained operations to eliminate terrorism and protect the lives, property, and dignity of innocent citizens across the province. According to official details, the CTD, following due legal process and in coordination with the Prosecution Branch, took into custody a notorious target killer, Muhammad Sannan alias Habib, son of Abdul Rehman, a resident of Zaim Salgro Kallay, Charsadda, for interrogation in connection with multiple terrorism-related cases.
During interrogation, the accused disclosed his direct and indirect involvement in several acts of terrorism. He also confessed to his role in the targeted killing and martyrdom of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Fasihullah and Ticketing Officer (TO) Salman, who were slain in separate target killing incidents.
CTD teams and investigation staff were escorting the accused to various locations for identification of crime scenes when, at Hassan Khel Zakhail, the police party came under sniper fire from accomplices of the accused. As a result of the attack, the target killer Muhammad Sannan alias Habib was fatally wounded and died on the spot. The police party remained safe due to timely response and protective measures, although the police vehicle sustained damage.
The incident once again underscores the ruthless nature of terrorist networks, which not only target innocent civilians and law enforcement personnel but also eliminate their own associates when they are perceived as a liability.
CTD officials reiterated that such cowardly acts will not deter law enforcement agencies from their mission. “These terrorists spare no one not the public, not security forces, and not even their own accomplices,” a CTD spokesperson stated.
The Counter Terrorism Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reaffirmed its unwavering resolve to eradicate terrorism from the province and the country. CTD personnel pledged to continue their operations with full commitment, professionalism, and sacrifice to ensure lasting peace and security for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
