At least five militants were killed in an exchange of fire during a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) operation in Quetta, officials confirmed on Monday, asserting that a major terror plot has been foiled.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was carried out at a terrorist hideout, from where security forces recovered five Kalashnikov rifles, seven hand grenades, and three motorcycles. The bodies of the slain militants were shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta for identification.
The spokesperson said the terrorists were involved in blocking the Quetta–Sibi Highway and targeting security forces as well as civilians, prompting immediate action by CTD teams.
Balochistan’s Chief Minister praised the successful operation and expressed satisfaction over the performance of CTD. He reiterated that the state would continue to use full force to ensure peace and stability, adding that operations against terrorism would continue without interruption until lasting peace is achieved in the province.
