A search operation carried out by security forces in the Shah Kas area of Jamrud, district Khyber, led to the recovery of weapons and ammunition, underscoring continued efforts to disrupt militant and criminal logistics networks operating beyond border routes.
According to security officials, the operation resulted in the seizure of a 30-bore pistol, 11 SMG magazines, one MP5 magazine, two bandoliers, 47 rounds of SMG ammunition, and 80 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition. Several suspected individuals were also taken into custody during the operation.
Officials said the action was conducted as part of broader measures to maintain law and order and prevent weapons from being used in criminal or subversive activities.
The recovery gains significance when viewed in the context of recent seizures at Pakistan’s western border and intelligence-led operations in major cities, which have exposed a persistent pattern of arms movement from frontier regions towards population centers. Security sources have repeatedly pointed to attempts by militant and criminal networks to disperse weapons inland after crossing border areas, using local facilitators and storage points.
Authorities said operations such as the one in Jamrud are aimed at breaking this chain before weapons and ammunition can be transferred further into settled districts or urban centers.
Security forces reiterated that search, intelligence, and interdiction operations would continue across sensitive areas to deny militant groups the logistical depth required to carry out attacks, while urging citizens to report suspicious activity to help strengthen preventive security efforts.
