A devastating bomb attack targeted an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) of the police near the Kot Wali Canal, close to Gomal Police Station, in Tank district, triggering a deadly security incident.
According to initial reports, the explosion was followed by an exchange of gunfire, indicating a coordinated and premeditated attack. As a result, five police personnel, including the Additional Station House Officer (Additional SHO), embraced martyrdom while performing their official duties.
Security sources stated that the APC was on routine movement when it was struck by the explosive device, causing severe damage and leading to immediate casualties. Reinforcements were rushed to the scene, and the area was swiftly cordoned off to prevent further threats and to facilitate rescue and investigation efforts.
The injured, if any, were shifted to nearby medical facilities, while bomb disposal and forensic teams began collecting evidence from the blast site. Law enforcement agencies have launched a comprehensive search and clearance operation in the surrounding area to track down the perpetrators.
Senior police and district officials strongly condemned the attack, terming it a cowardly act of terrorism aimed at undermining peace and security in the region. They paid tribute to the martyred officers, acknowledging their sacrifice and reaffirming the resolve of the police force to continue its mission against terrorism.
An investigation is underway, and authorities have assured that those responsible will be identified, pursued, and dealt with firmly, as security operations remain ongoing across the district to prevent any further incidents.
