The year 2025 proved to be a significant and active period for Pakistan in its relentless fight against terrorism. Throughout the year, the nation’s armed forces and security agencies undertook extensive operations across the country, targeting terrorist networks, countering border threats, and safeguarding civilians, often at great personal risk.
Pakistani security forces ensured that Indian-sponsored terrorist groups faced relentless setbacks, turning 2025 into a year of defeat and disruption for extremists. Among the major terrorist incidents that were successfully countered were a suicide attack targeting a school bus in Khuzdar and an assault on the Jafar Express train near Quetta. In Mastung, Balochistan, terrorists attempted to target a Frontier Corps bus with a roadside bomb, which was neutralized by prompt security action. In South Waziristan, terrorists attacked Wana Cadet College, taking students and staff hostage, but security agencies successfully thwarted the attack, protecting lives and restoring order. Terrorist groups, including Fata-ul-Khawarij and Fata-ul-Hindustan, attempted attacks on Frontier Corps headquarters in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but these efforts were foiled through precise intelligence and coordinated counterterrorism operations.
Across Pakistan, security forces carried out a total of 67,023 intelligence-based operations in 2025, targeting 4,910 high-value terrorist operatives. These operations led to the elimination of 1,873 terrorists, including 136 Afghan nationals, and the arrest of hundreds of suspected operatives. While defending the nation, 57 courageous members of Pakistan’s security forces sacrificed their lives, and 207 officers and personnel were injured, demonstrating extraordinary bravery and commitment to the country.
The year 2025 also saw persistent terrorist and border-related violence, with 1,188 violent incidents recorded nationwide. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan faced the highest levels of attacks, yet security forces successfully countered insurgent operations. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone, 284 terrorist attacks were recorded, but 148 terrorists were neutralized and 1,116 suspects apprehended. In Balochistan and other provinces, authorities strengthened border monitoring, dismantled terrorist networks, and seized large quantities of illegal weapons, reducing the operational capacity of extremist groups.
Night operations, rapid-response teams, and intelligence-led raids played a decisive role in neutralizing threats and ensuring immediate response to attacks. Security forces repeatedly demonstrated Pakistan’s readiness to respond swiftly to terrorism and to maintain the safety of its citizens.
Officials emphasized that the sacrifices, determination, and courage of Pakistan’s security personnel reflect the nation’s unwavering resolve to fight terrorism to the end. The successes of 2025 highlight Pakistan’s ability to counter evolving threats and reinforce national security, sending a strong message that terrorism will not prevail. The commitment of Pakistan’s armed forces and security agencies, combined with the support of the public, underscores the country’s determination to achieve lasting peace and stability.
The events of 2025 reaffirm that Pakistan remains fully prepared to confront all threats, protect its citizens, and pursue the complete elimination of terrorism until peace is fully restored across the nation.
