Terrorists Destroy Girls Primary School in North Waziristan, Threatening Education of Hundreds

A government-run girls’ primary school in Eppi village, Mir Ali tehsil, North Waziristan, was completely destroyed when explosives were planted in the facility, local sources reported. The attack on the Lal Salam Kot (Loli Kot) school has placed the education and future of hundreds of young girls in serious jeopardy.

According to local authorities and eyewitnesses, the explosion, carried out under cover of darkness, reduced the entire school building to rubble. The institution, which provided basic education to girls in the remote region, had been a vital source of learning in an area already grappling with insecurity and limited access to education.

The incident has sparked outrage among residents and education advocates, who condemned the deliberate targeting of an educational facility. Officials emphasized that attacks on schools not only endanger students but also hinder the broader efforts to promote literacy and gender equality in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Security forces have reportedly launched an investigation into the attack, while local administration is coordinating efforts to assess the damage and explore immediate measures to ensure continuity of education for affected students.

This deliberate act of violence underscores the persistent threat posed by militants in parts of North Waziristan and highlights the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect schools, particularly those educating girls.

Authorities and civil society members called for a unified response to safeguard educational institutions and ensure that the rights of children, especially girls, to receive education are protected.
