Yasin Zia, leader of the Afghanistan Freedom Front, has dismissed former president Ashraf Ghani’s warnings about possible national fragmentation, arguing that the armed resistance against the Taliban is a legitimate fight for Afghanistan’s freedom, not an effort to divide the nation.

In a post directed at Ghani, Zia said the former leader spoke about the dangers of war and disunity while ignoring what he described as “the rightful armed struggle of the Afghan people” against Taliban rule. He accused Ghani of failing in his duties as commander in chief, remaining silent for years over the fate of former security personnel, and presiding over the political collapse of 2021, which he said was not a military defeat but a leadership failure.

Zia said former Afghan forces were now reorganising and mobilising again, insisting that the setback of 2021 should not be treated as final. He vowed that the resistance would continue until Afghans reversed what he called the political disgrace of the past leadership and secured their future through determination and struggle.

He concluded that Afghans would ultimately prevail and shape their own destiny.

AMSF Declares Resumption of its Anti-Taliban Operations

The Afghanistan Military Salvation Front has announced the resumption of its operations against the Taliban regime, reaffirming its role as a key armed resistance group. Formerly known as the United Military Salvation, it also fought during the Taliban’s first rule. It now stands alongside the Afghanistan Freedom Front and the National Resistance Front as the third major resistance movement.

In its statement, the AMSF condemned Taliban policies as illegal and un-Islamic, warning it would target any individual or group harming Afghanistan’s national or public interests. Analysts say this renewed activity highlights persistent opposition to Taliban rule and underscores the ongoing instability across the country.

The re emergence of the AMSF shows that despite claims of consolidation, determined resistance continues to challenge Taliban authority.
