Three children were killed and three others injured when an explosive device planted inside a house detonated in Sanni tehsil of Bolan district, bringing down the roof and reducing parts of the structure to rubble in what officials say appears to be a targeted act of terrorism.
Acting SP Kachhi, Jan Muhammad Khosa, said the blast occurred at the residence of Abdul Hai Jatoi when family members were inside. The force of the explosion was so intense that the roof collapsed and the walls caved in, leaving three children dead on the spot.
The deceased were identified as 14-year-old Nadeem Ahmed, 13-year-old Sona Khan and a teenage girl, Bibi Bakhtawar, aged between 13 and 14. A young girl and two men were injured and shifted to a nearby hospital, where they were provided medical treatment.
Police officials said initial findings suggest that unidentified armed men had planted the explosive material inside the house two nights earlier. “The nature of the incident indicates it was a deliberate and targeted attack,” an official said.
Following the explosion, security forces and the bomb disposal squad reached the site, cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation to trace those involved. SP Khosa said an FIR has been registered and a full-scale investigation is under way, with sensitive agencies also joining the probe.
